PROPS North is a regional school program at Acton District High School that supports mental health, and student achievement recognizing the equal importance of both in supporting student success.

The school program:

  • Purposefully and intentionally teaches and promotes positive mental health and well being (physical, emotional, intellectual and social well being)
  • Delivers curriculum in a small class (maximum 8 students) with the support of a multi disciplinary team
  • Includes the teaching of 4 courses which typically are: Dynamics of Human Relationships, Food and Nutrition, Health for Life and one course based on student need (typically a core course and/or credit recovery)
  • Teaches skills including: restorative practices, social decision making, problem solving, communication, self advocacy, DBT and goal setting
  • Values restorative practices, the capacity of our students, and a learning partnership that includes the student, the PROPS team and family

PROPS Students:

  • Have the opportunity to set personal goals within the areas of well being and academic achievement
  • Have the opportunity to earn up to 4 credits per semester
  • Will participate in a variety of experiential learning experiences including learning out of doors, food preparation, Equine Assisted Learning
  • Share the ultimate goal of transitioning out of the PROPS classroom
  • Are in grades 9-12
